24 and the wii

Some might say Jimmy and I absolutely wasted our Monday and Tuesday days off with the ice storm. We loved it though.
Let me back-up: A few years ago, my friend Elizabeth Diefenderfer told me I HAD to start watching the tv show, 24. She said you can't watch just one. She went on to say her and her sister would stay up till 3 or 4 in the morning watching these episodes because you really just can't watch one. So, I asked for season 1 for Christmas '07. And that's when our obsession for 24 began. We knocked out season 1 in 2 days and a week later started in one season 2. Probably a month after that, we went for season 3. We then, surprisingly, went on a hiatus from the intense tv show and didn't start watching season 4 until this past Christmas. We finished season 4 pretty quick and well, now we're done with season 5 as well.
We watched 14 hours (19 hours in tv time) worth of season 5 in 20 hours. With the remaining time, we just played wii. and ate food. It was the best. I love being off with nothing to do. Thank you ice storm 2009! Bring on season 6.

prone to sickness?

Are pregnant people more susceptible to getting sick more so than non-preggos? I have no idea if that's fact or not, but I'll tell you - I have been sick with a sinus infection since last monday - almost 1 1/2 weeks! and i have not come close to improving. it's pretty miserable and although i have nothing to post about, i feel like since i just started this blog, i should work on posting something, anything! at least every week.

on some other quinn happenings, jimmy is back in full work mode after the holidays preparing for this spring semester. we're about to start back our college small groups next week actually. he's found a really cool study that i think/hope will be great for our students. we'll be studying the "one anothers" of the bible and really trying to live them out. commands like "love one another" "serve one another" "pray for one another" "honor one another".

we've also entered into the big debate on bedding for the nursery. we're down to two options. all you readers out there (ha!) post your thoughts on which bedding we should go with in the comments section under this post. to the family if you don't have an account for a blog. you can still post a comment by selecting post by "open id". just type your name. the first option is green, cream and brown and has bunnies on it. it's really soft and is great for boy or girl. the second option is green, cream, brown and pink (since we are having a girl) with a lot of different designs like polka dots, stripes and a few flowers. the only pink we would use in the room would be in the bedding and the rest of the room decor would be greens and creams! good luck helping us choose! we are at a complete loss!

pregnancy...what a WEIRD experience!

So, pregnancy is definitely weird. I mean, it's really exciting and fun, but I don't know if I'd believe the person that said pregnancy is totally normal. First off, I think I'm a late bloomer on a lot of the symptoms of pregnancy, at least according to the web sites out there. I've read that morning sickness should be finished up by around week 12-13. I read that um, certain body parts are supposed to enhance around week 10, I read that you will have to go to the bathroom A LOT starting at week 8. I have heard that most women start showing around week 14. I read that you're supposed to "glow" b/c of the hormonal changes - whatever that means. Also that you're supposed to get really moody and crazy, pretty much all the time, I think. So...what's wrong with me? Here's how my pregnancy has gone so far.

Was miserably sick everyday until week 20.
Body changes - week 22
Bathroom frequency - week 24
Belly showing - week 24
Glowing?? no
Moody and crazy personality? I guess it would be only fair to ask Jimmy, but I think I've been very mild-tempered! i would bet that even the craziest pregnant people would say the exact same thing though!

Anyway, that's just a few things I've noticed about being pregnant. And I am kinda bummed to admit I have not had any weird cravings. I was really looking forward to relishing in the fact that I could eat the weirdest combo's of food and it totally be ok. Nope, only grilled cheese sandwiches and baked potatoes call my name!

Here's a few pregnancy pics to show the belly progression. This is week 16, 19, 24 and 26, in order!

the blogging world...our new adventure!

Hello out there!

We have decided to get involved in this whole blogging scene for a number of different reasons. Here's our top 5:

5. We like reading everyone else's blogs and thought it would be fun to have our own

4. There's a lot of pressure to have a blog once you start a family. We want to fit in.

3. I (Marisa) have so much free time on my hands that I needed something new to do.

2. Even though most of our friends and family live close to us, or we see them most of the time, this is just another way to keep everyone updated with what's going on in our lives!

1. We want to have a way to "remember the memories"! Especially when baby girl makes her appearance. We both have pretty bad memories and are terrible at scrapbooking.

So there you have it! I hope you (who's ever out there) enjoys the "quirky quinn's" blog and will check back often!
